1. Presbyterian Hunger Program. Place your "pocket" coins in bucket in Narthex.
2. JCCM. Shelves nearly bare. All non-perishables are welcome. Critical needs: canned meats, soups, canned fruits, cereals, pork & beans, peanut butter, jellies, oatmeal (instant & regular) pancake mix and syrup, boxed potatoes, hamburger helper, coffee, flour, sugar, rice, spaghetti noodles and sauce.
3. Hispanic Mission Food Outreach. Most requested items include: rice; dry (not canned) pinto beans, potatoes, salt, sugar, cooking oil, and coffee

7th Annual Pack Horse Ford River Walk. Sunday, Sept.12.
Meet at the Wall in front of McMurran at 12 noon. Walk down River Road to Pack Horse Ford, with historic commentary. Ford the Potomac on foot. Walk up the C&O Canal Towpath to the Ferry Landing. Cross back over in a flotilla of “interesting watercraft”. Bring river shoes and a towel. Small backpacks encouraged. A walking staff is essential. If you choose to skip the walk, come straight to the picnic at 2:00 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers and utensils are provided. Bring a covered dish (salads, casseroles, desserts) and something to drink. A remarkable story of hope for Haitian farmers and their families: Just Haiti, a fair trade coffee project in the community of Baraderes. Founder and member of the directorate team of Just Haiti, Kim Lamberty, will speak about the history of the project, the economic justice issues in Haiti and elsewhere, and solutions, including the fair trade movement.
